Goblet Workshop

Jim Vasi, President of Turners 1, was the instructor for turning goblets

Saturday, June 15th, was a beautiful day at Barb's Barn

Jim started by roughing the stock to a cylinder and putting a spigot on the end

With a spigot, the stock can be put in a chuck and worked from the cup end

The cup is shaped, hollowed, sanded, and finished while there is plenty of support

Once the cup is completed, the stem is formed, progressively towards the base

The stem and base decoration are completed, then the goblet is parted off

There was a capacity crowd at the Barn for Jim's goblet workshop

Some examples of Jim Vasi's goblet work

Sam Ciccia, Ron Mostel, and Rich Mialki launch into it
