Announcements

 

Vice Pres., Rusty Ellis announced meeting dates for year: second Thursday of the month except April 4 and June 13 will be held on Wednesday of those months.

 

Chuck Baldo contacted Rusty and told him, he is closing up his shop. Everything is for sale if you’re interested. Call him at 207-6166.

 

Communications

Linda Peck of Forgotten Woods is downsizing. If interested in purchasing wood contact them a www.forgottenwoods.net

 

Northwoods is offering a 15% discount. If the club puts together large order the discount will be 20%.They sent samples of pen blanks and wood block. The club held a drawing for those items at the end of the meeting for those items from 50/50 tickets. Pen blanks won by Rusty Ellis & Luke DeFoe; wood block won by Bob Ball

 

Old Business

Rich Mialki reported that $14929.15 was donated to Make-A-Wish. $588 of that came from the raffle. Ward Beaton from Turners I won the raffle.

A list of air items was difficult to compile as items come in during the fair and sporadically during the year. A list of items that ran out was easier to compile. Those items were: door stops, chain pulls, refrigerator magnets, seam rippers, bottle openers, cutting boards, 6-1 screw drivers (see Rich for kits at special price), and toothpick holders for the refrigerator.

 

Christine from Make-A-Wish was introduced t, who thanked the group and she shared to following with us:

 

Thanks were given to Bob Ball, Gary Jones, Rusty Ellis & Brian Defoe for the time they spent at the fair.

Barb Berger shared a personal experience from the fair.

 

New Business

 

Nominations for next year’s officers were held.

The vote will take place at this month’s Meeting, October.

A discussion of concerns regarding posting of minutes, pictures etc. was had.

 

The picnic update: fun was had by all and the desserts were great.

 

Beginner Barn session at Barb’s Barn was held on Oct 2nd.

 

November meeting will be the annual auction. So start gathering all those items in the shop that you don’t use anymore.

Pat Delmonte took the lead in a discussion of various ways to mount wood onto the lathe.

ELMER’S CORNER:

Speed Square Assembly found in American Woodworker vol. 156 Oct/Nov 2011

Another use for speed squares. Just clamp one or two of them inside the corners of a cabinet when you are gluing it up. This guarantees that the corners will be square.
