Announcements

Fair report by Rich: the final total is $17,024. This is $3000 over our best year.

 

Oct. demo will be Brian Effinger doing bird House ornaments.

 

V. Pres. Ron Ellis suggested possible demo. Allen Corter from Ill.

 

Old Business

Sale of old lathe realized $150. Out of this, the club passed a motion made by Rich Mialki, and seconded by Barb Berger, to reimburse Jim Hilburger for the lathe rebuild. It was passed.

The spare club talon chuck is to be auctioned at the November meeting, auction night. The staring price will be $100.

 

Librarians: Paul Boland reminded new member about our club’s supply of learning

DVD’s that the club has available to member.

Elections will be at October meeting.

 

Ron is going to speak with the Pembroke club about a co-op demo with Beth Ireland, a friend of Linda Spores. Also he will speak to Pembroke and Turner’s I about the possibility of bringing Richard Raffin in to do a demo. Paul Mazuchowski made a motion; seconded by Barb Berger for the club to support this.

 

Barb Berger suggested we sponsor a beginner’s session at Barb’s Barn in the near future to help our new members begin their journey of turning.

DEMO

Gene Musial from the Lockport Club did a demo on making chrome bottle stoppers and a cheese knife. Thank you, Gene for taking the time to share your skill in making these items.

 

ELMER’S CORNER

A Safety tip from tonight’s demonstrator:

When cutting sandpaper use a sand paper cutter made from a piece of plywood with an old hack saw blade mounted on it, instead of a utility knife. It saves the fingers
