Each member is asked to bring a hand made gift. The members will vote on each gift. The three highest votes received, will be given to the school as a thank you for the use of the room for the year.
Remember to check out the videos and books on projects and procedures from our librarian, John O’Neil.
Muriel has chains for anyone interested in making chain pulls for the fair. Let her know if you need them.
The next items on the Woodturning Idea List for demonstrations, as suggested in last month’s newsletter are as follows: flutes, foot massagers, gavels, goblets, honey dippers, jam spreaders, key fobs, lace bobbins, lamps, letter openers, light pulls, mallets, music stands, napkin rings, needle holders, nutcrackers, oil lamps, paper weights, pens and pick-up sticks. If anyone would like to demonstrate making anything suggested on the list, please let Rusty know.
The investigation into a camera and projector for demos is still a work in progress. John Lilley and his committee are checking on this.
After much thought, a motion was made by Rick and seconded by Brian that meeting should begin at 7:00PM starting in September at the start of the new school year. The motion was carried.
Gary Jones and Jerry Rucker are making items from the beams taken out of the Women’s bldg, at the Fair, to be given to the ladies.
The July 10th meeting will be held at Ron Hudson’s house, 5394 Merlau Rd., S.Wales. It will start at 7:00PM. Ron will have directions for everyone at the next meeting.
Since there has been a decline in interest for the August picnic, we will put it on hold. The shelter at the park will be reserved though.
Richard Mialki sent in a letter to the Minwax Company and won an award. One-thousand dollars in Minwax products will be divided among the 4 turning clubs. He also won $5000.00. Each of the 4 turning clubs will receive $600.00. The remainder of the amount will be put into the Turner’s 1 treasury. We thank you Rich, for your generosity.
Minwax will be putting on a demonstration at the Turner’s 1 meeting on Wednesday, June 11 at 4:00PM, at Maryvale School. They have room for 50 people so let John Lilley if you are interested in attending.
On Saturday, October 4th, there will be a Woodturning Demonstration by Joe Ruminski from 9am to 4pm at the Dale Association, 33 Ontario St., Lockport, NY. Brian is selling tickets to this event. The tickets are $20.00 each.
