Business Items by Richard Mialki & Members:
Joe Wiesnet reported that he needs demonstrators for 2015. If you are interested please contact him to sign up for the list.
I reported that there were no responses on the sale of the clubs used lathe. Rich Mialki will
offer it to the other clubs this month at their meetings.
Brianne Corbett reported that she is current on our web pages up to this meeting. She also
has a video available on Facebook of pen making, and encouraged members to check it out.
Bob Ball advised that our DVD’s are available to members who wish to borrow them. Also, he is working on converting some of Jim Hillburger’s tapes to the DVD format. A list of our DVD’s is available on our Website.
The TV, Stand, and Camera have been purchased and were set up for the members to watch our demo this evening. All of the equipment is great quality and displayed a good clear image on the TV which was also accompanied by sound! Mr. Mialki, and Norm Kosmerl did a great job on the purchases!
Bob Ball reported that the demo at the Dale Center was one of the best he has attended. He also suggested we should consider having more in the coming years. Proceeds from the demo totaled $600.42, and there is a DVD being compiled of the demo.
Gene Renzoni advised that the Aspire Christmas Party will be held on December 17th, at the original school location off Union Road. We are looking for more wooden toys, games puzzles, etc. Please remember that any toys made can not have loose or small parts. Our guide is: small or loose parts have to be larger than the diameter of a paper towel core. All are invited to attend on December 17th, at 0830 am for set up, and then to enjoy the party. If you need any additional information please contact Gene at 634-3252 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Richard would like some volunteers to step forward to help with handling the video equipment for the meetings etc. If you are interested please contact us.
Show & Tell Portion:
The show and tell segment was given by the following members: Larry Scaglione, Bree Corbett, Gene Renzoni, Bob Ball, Rich Evans, Frank Stanko, Nick Vespa, and Mike Todd. Really nice work was displayed this month!
The club demonstration was given by Frank Stanko on "Corian and the Woodturner," it was in 3 parts: 1. Creating an invisible joint. 2. Making a crest shaped thermal form to hold a wine bottle. 3. Using the correct tooling and cuts to properly work Corian. This was a real good demo and Frank did a great job on the presentation!
Next Meeting/Scheduled Demos:
The next regular meeting will be held on Thursday, December 04, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the Maryvale High School Shop. There will be no demo this month because it will be our annual Christmas Party. All our members are invited to join in for the refreshments after a brief business meeting. Please remember to bring in any Aspire items you have made.
The January meeting will be our officer elections, and the demo will be presented by Joe Wiesnet. “5 cuts you can make with an Elsworth gouge.” This will be a good demo.
We are always looking for members to do demonstrations or give us some ideas for our programs. If you would like to do a demo for us, have any new ideas, or are just interested in learning something specific, mention it to our Vice President, Joe Wiesnet or send me an e-mail and I will forward it to him for handling.
The meeting was concluded at 2105 hours.
Respectfully submitted by,
J. A. Mussari
