Treasurer’s Report by: Norm Kosmerl:

October 2013 Activity:

THIS INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED NEXT MONTH

Old Business Items:

Gene Renzoni announced the Aspire Christmas Party will be Friday December 13, 2013 at the Binner Building on Maryvale Drive.  This is the location where we used to have our July/August meetings when the Maryvale High School was closed.  The Aspire School location is being renovated and up graded this year.  The street address is Binner Building, 1050 Maryvale Drive Cheektowaga, New York. The party will begin at 0930 hours but Gene asked for set up to be held at 0845.  There is still a need for snowmen, cradles, and any type wooden toys.  Please remember, that all toys should be left unfinished and any loose parts of a toy has to be larger than can fit through a core of paper towels.  These are two safety items to prevent the children from harm.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Becker have donated both stuffed animals and dolls again this year  and

Denise Mussari secured a $400.00 donation from the S.E.F.C.U Foundation for the purchase

of additional toys for the Party.  Thank you both, and all the members who contribute to this event to make it a success!

Please bring your toys to the next meeting or let Gene know what you have and bring them directly to the party.  Remember, all husbands and wives are invited!  Call Gene if you have any questions.

New Business Items:

Richard reminded us that the address list you received from Joe Mussari with last months Newsletter is not for publication, or be given out to anyone.   It is for the use of our members only.

Richard also made a motion to make Jim Shimwell and Jim Hilburger honorary members of our club.  The motion was seconded and passed. Congratulations to both of you gentlemen and thank you for your outstanding efforts over the past years.

Mr. Mialki also proposed scheduling demos/workshops by two outside professional turners. You can get additional information about them on their webs at: http://arnoldwardstudio.com/artist and http://thegiftturningstudio.com  A general discussion followed and after some questions a motion to table the item until the other clubs were polled was made.  This motion did not receive a second, but the discussion ended at that time.

Show and Tell participants included:

The show and tell portion was given by:  Brianne Corbett, Joe Wiesnet, Mike Todd, Bob Ball, Richard Mialki, Eugen Schlaak, Gene Renzoni, Marwin Feldman, and Brian Effinger.   A nice variety of turnings were displayed.

Club Demonstration:

The demo scheduled at this meeting was a slide show presentation on the Emerald Ash Borer, given by Patrick J. Marren, Senior Forester Region 9, of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. I understand it was both Interesting and informative.

We are always looking for members to do demonstrations or give us some ideas for our programs.  If you would like to do a demo for us, have any new ideas, or are just interested in learning something specific, mention it to our Vice President, Steve Imerese or send me an e-mail and I will forward it to him for handling.

Next Meeting/Demo:

Our next meeting will be at the Maryvale High School Shop on Thursday, December 05, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.  There will be a brief business meeting followed by our Show and Tell portion prior to the annual Christmas Party for our members.  Please remember to bring any items you may have for the Aspire School children.

The meeting was concluded.

* The notes and minutes of this meeting were taken by Gene Renzoni and forwarded to me via e-mail for this Newsletter.  I would like to personally thank Gene for standing in for me in my absence.   You did a great job!

Respectfully submitted by,

J. A. Mussari
