The 50/50 Club of $22.00 was drawn and awarded to Gene Renzoni who immediately donated it to be used along with our S.E.F.C.U. donation for some Aspire toys. Thank you Gene!
Jim Vasi worked on our speaker system and it is in a suitable working condition at this time. However, replacement may be needed in the future, should there be a system failure.
Gene Renzoni advised us that this year the Aspire School Christmas Party will be conducted on December 7th 2011 at 0930 hours (9:30 am) at the Aspire School 4635 Union Road Cheektowaga, N.Y. 14225. Set up is at 0830 hours and members are welcome. He is still looking for toys for both boys and girls, and has patterns available for anyone wishing to make some items. Please remember that gift items should not have any loose or little parts smaller than the diameter of a paper towel core to prevent a choking hazard.
Barb Berger stated that she knows of three new members who would like to attend a woodturning instruction class for beginners. If you are a recent or new member and would also like to attend a class please contact her. She can accommodate eight to ten participants at her facility. Barb also reported that Jim Hilburger is doing well, and in good spirits while he is recuperating. Our thoughts are with you Jim….
Show and Tell participants included:
Jim Vasi, Eugen Schlaak, Brianne Corbett, Ray Bissonette, Jim Schnellinger, Mike Gotthelf, Larry Scaglione, and Laura Schirle. Good job, and thank you all for your participation.
Our demonstration was on bowl turning and was done by Jim Vasi. It was very informative with several good tips for better turning. Great job Jim! – Thank you!
We are always looking for members to do demonstrations or give us some ideas for our programs. If you would like to do a demo for us, have any new ideas, or are just interested in learning something specific, mention it to one of the Vice President’s committee members. I am sure that they will do their best to produce results. The committee members are: Jim Cunning, Paul Wilhelm, and Brian Young.
Our next meeting will be at the Maryvale High School Shop on Thursday December 1st, 2011 at 1900 hours (7:00 pm.). There will be no demo at this meeting, as it will be our annual Christmas Party. After our regular business meeting, pizza and refreshments will be served for the members.
This meeting was concluded at 2040 hours.
