Brianne Corbett, our Web site maintainer, has initiated a new Facebook page for our members who wish to be a part of it. Brianne will issue the instructions under separate cover to our members when it is ready to go. Thank you Brianne, we all appreciate your help.
New Business Items:
Mr. Mialki informed us that Joe Wiesnet has accepted the position of Vice President of our club. He is presently working on the sponsors and donors for our club and web site.
The 2014 Fair sign up sheet is available from Mr. Mialki. If you are interested in working the Fair please see Richard at the July meeting. We still have quite a few open shifts available.
Gary Jones reported that Jim Hilburger’s health has been failing recently. We all wish Jim well.
Lon Dzimian has found a supplier for monogramed Shirts for our members. If you are interested, the cost will be about $10.00 for the T’s and 16.00 for the polo shirts. This all depends on a minimum order of 12 pieces. The shirts will be Navy with Gold lettering. This will be discussed at the July 3 meeting.
If any member does not have a name tag or current membership card please see or contact Norm Kosmerl and he will prepare one for you. The tags should be worn at all the meetings so new and old members can identify our club officers and other members.
There are still some outstanding dues to be collected for 2014. The fee this year is only $10.00 and is payable to our Treasurer Mr. Kosmerl. Please keep your dues up to date as they are one of our few sources of income. Thank you…
DVD’s Are available from Bob Ball at each meeting. If you are interested please see him, for the details on the loan program. The list of DVD’s is available on our Website.
Show and Tell participants included:
The show and tell portion was given by: Ray Bisonette, Brianne Corbett, Joe Wiesnet, Michael Gotthelf, Frank Becker, Alan Dick, Mike Todd, Eugen Schlaak, Rich Mialki, Frank Stanko, Gary Jones, and Norm Kosmerl. Gift certificates were awarded by random drawing to the members displaying their items. A nice variety of turnings were displayed.
There was no demo this month as it was a surprise retirement party for Ed Jolls the manager of the Rockler Store on Transit Road for 17 years. Ed was presented with a gift award by Jim Vasi and refreshments were served to the members. We all thank you Ed, for the help you have given us over the years with our projects, and wish you a very happy and long retirement!
PLEASE NOTE: BECAUSE OF THE HOLIDAY, Our next meeting will be at the Maryvale High School Shop on Wednesday July 3rd, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The following demos are scheduled:
In preparation for the Fair, Rich Mialki will be doing pens, Jim Vasi will be doing wine stoppers, and Brian Effinger will be doing small lidded boxes. These demos will give the members exposure to three small items that can be done for our Fair project.
In addition to the above change of meeting date. The August 7th, meeting has also been changed to July 31st, because of the conflict of the Fair starting date. I will remind you all in next months Newsletter.
We are always looking for members to do demonstrations or give us some ideas for our programs. If you would like to do a demo for us, have any new ideas, or are just interested in learning something specific, mention it to our Vice President, Joe Wesnet or send me an e-mail and I will forward it to him for handling. The meeting was concluded at 2115 hours.
During the period of writing this Newsletter, we sadly learned that Jim Hilburger had passed away on June 6th, 2014. Jim was a member of the Club for many years, and his devotion, hard work, and generosity for the events and projects we participated in were always forthcoming. He will surely be missed by all… – Keep turnin’
