The turners 1 club will co-host this fall’s John Jordan Two Day Demonstration at the Pembroke High School on Saturday and Sunday, October 14th and 15th.  Tickets are available from Steve Imerese, Jim Vasi, Jim Schnellinger or Lance Kanaby at a cost of $20 for either day or $35 for a two day ticket.

The Erie County Fair will be held from Wednesday, August 9th through Sunday, August 20th. The Turners 1 and Turners 2 will hold their Make-A-Wish charity fundraiser at the fair. Put the dates on your calendar so you can participate. We'll be in our usual spot on the porch of the Woodcarvers building. Steve Imerese, Rich Mialki, and Al Schultz are the organizers for the fair fund raising event this year. You can lend a hand by making items ahead of the fair as well as "working the booth" at the event. You can make items now and add them to the stock available for the fair. Al Schultz is collecting fair sale turnings at the Turners 1 meetings and Jake Debski is doing the same at the Turners 2 meetings. Spend a few minutes making things and dropping them off now so there isn't a mad scramble just before or during the event. If you need ideas for things to make, visit the fair example items page on the web. For the last couple of years, we've raised over $6000 each year for the Western NY chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The schedule for signing up has been posted at EC Fair Schedule and included as page two of this newsletter. Take a look at the available slots and sign up for all that you can help with. We need your help!  Please sign up.

Show & Tell:  Thanks for sharing their work to, Jim Schnellinger- biscuit cutter, Don Hoffmann- pin cushion & bottle stops, Pat Boggan- necklace, bracelets, Steve Imerese- segmented bowl, Debbie Hachey- lidded box, Jim Rupracht- vase, bowl, candle holder, Jim Vasi- lidded bowl, Marwin Feldman- vase, & Kurt Hertzog- pens, lidded box, ornaments.

Demo:  Barry Yavener from Buffalo State College informed us of the intense design and detailed execution that goes into a art object for competition. He brought three art objects, thick segmented large bowl, mirrored wall & bowl, and a bowl on a stand.  All items were wonderfully crafted and a pleasure to look at.   Great job and thanks Barry.

Next Meeting:

This is a pop and pizza party to share stories and get ready for the fair.

Respectively, Dick Radel
