The meeting was called to order at 1900 hours by Jim Vasi, S.A. Imerese was unable to attend.
Treasurer’s Report: By John Paulin
The report was not available due to the absence of Mr. Paulin. These figures will be presented in next months Newsletter.
Lon Dzimian introduced Jose’ Olea as his guest for the evening. He was welcomed by all who attended.
Bob Ball informed the group that the Fair is coming up on us quickly again this year, and asked that we all start making plans for our projects for the sale tables. He also stated that he has an assortment of items donated in the past for anyone who might want to use them as patterns or just to get some new ideas. He brought several of these items for the show and tell portion of the meeting. Jim Vasi reminded us that there is no reimbursement for any articles or materials used for the fair donations. All materials and “kits” used for the Fair projects are at the expense of the members for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Please look into this as we can use everyone’s help for the Fair.
Jim Rupracht announced that there is a possibility of getting a demonstration done by Glenn Lucas, a production bowl turner, which could be held at the Pembroke High School in the near future, and asked for our interest. A show of hands was called for, and Jim will progress this further advising us the availability and cost at the next meeting.
Brianne Corbett advised that the Woodcraft Store on Ridge Road in West Seneca has terminated their business.
Ray Bisonette received a thank you note and card from the Crino family, and read it for the members.
The 50/50 Club paid $22.00 and was awarded to Ron Karaszewski.
Show and Tell participants included:
Jim Vasi, Paul Wilhelm, Frank Stanko, Richard Mialki, Jim Rupracht, Brianne Corbett, David Day, Bob Ball, Jim Cunning and Marwin Feldman. Great looking items. Thank you all for your participation.
Our demo was done by Marwin Feldman on “What to do with the little pieces that are left over. “ He did a great job! Thank you Marwin.
We are always looking for members to do demonstrations. If you would like to do one for us please contact one of the Vice President’s committee members. Jim Cunning, Paul Wilhelm, or Brian Young.
Our next meeting will be at the Maryvale High School Shop on Thursday May 5, 2011 at 1900 hours (7:00 pm.) Please remember the new time and parking restriction! Thank you.
Marwin Feldman will do this Demo also, and it will be on getting started and the introduction to turning platters.
