Business Items: Jim Vasi opened meeting with the introduction of seven new members who were there at the meeting. WELCOME, Harold Bonafice, Robert Fronczek, David Harris, Ron & Elaine Niedziela, Dan Rogala, and James Rupracht. After discussion it was agreed the dues for a married couple would be $30 for the two of them.
Enclosed with this newsletter is the current 2005 membership list of 76 members and 3 honorary members.
Ray Bissonette thanked members who made 40 items that were sold at the Bissonette Foundation Benefit on February 27th.
The spring 2005 edition of “American Woodturner has a very nice article on our own Barbara Berger. She gives generously of her time and mentors new and old members. THANKS Barb.
After discussion it was agreed every person who does a demo will be awarded one of the gift certificates presently in possession of the club. Currently we have 22 each. Some also will be used as raffle items at the picnic.
Jim Vasi will purchase a dozen new club hats to be sold to members in the future.
Pepper Weinheimer will submit the leader names for the work we do at the Erie County Fair. For 2005 the leaders are Bob Ball, Jim Hilburger, and Steve Imerese. Jim Hilburger requested members to please start to make items to sell soon, we almost ran out of items last year. All for the benefit of “Make-a-wish”
Coming Events: Bowl turning by Jim Vasi at Barbs Barn on March 19th, bring bowl blank and tools. Call Jim at 632-5381 for your reservation. Show & Tell: Jim Schnellinger – hacksaw blade parting tool, Jim Vasi – beach burl bowl, Kurt Hertzog – spalted maple plates & bowls, Dave Korn – flower vase, Eric Scott – furniture legs, Eugen Schlaak – bowls, box elder bowl, sugar maple bowl, Don Hoffmann – bowls & lidded boxes. Jim Shimwell – bird house, James Rupracht – maple bowl with dremel edge. Thanks to all !!!
Demo: Jim Schnellinger brought his homemade tools and showed how you can make pens from zebra wood, fibron wood, and corian. Thanks Jim.
