Jim Rupracht informed us that plans to have a demo by Glenn Lucas have fallen through because of some overbooking problem by Mr. Lucas. Brian Effinger also advised that the
Pembroke Club is also trying to have Doug Fisher for a demo around July. More information on this will follow as details are finalized.
Richard Mialki brought in and displayed the bowl made and donated for the Fair raffle by Rick Lawrence. Rick did our January demo, and it was really informative. Richard also asked us to start thinking about preparing for the fair items. The fair is just a few short months away, and it creeps up fast on us. Volunteers are always needed, if you are a new member, or a regular member who has never participated, and are interested in helping out please let one of the club officers know at the next meeting or by e-mail. (The club officers are noted on your membership address list.)
I also asked that we update our “Contacts” portion of our website. Some officers have changed and new ones have been installed since it was last up dated. I believe that this was received as a good idea and I am going to work on this with Brianne Corbett and Brian Effinger during the next few weeks.
Show and Tell participants included:
Eugen Schlaak, Paul Wilhelm, Richard Mialki, Brianne Corbett, Larry Scaglione, Brian Effinger, Steve Imerese, and Gene Renzoni. Thank you all for your participation!
Our Demo was done by Marwin Feldman on carving and lettering various platters/bowls. Marwin always does a great job on his demonstrations. This was very informative for us members who have had little instruction on carving by hand and with “roto” type tools.
We are always looking for members to do demonstrations or give us some ideas for our programs. If you would like to do a demo for us, have any new ideas, or are just interested in learning something specific, mention it to one of the Vice President’s committee members. I am sure that they will do their best to produce results. The committee members are: Jim Cunning, Paul Wilhelm, and Brian Young.
Our next meeting will be at the Maryvale High School Shop on Thursday March 01, 2012 at 1900 hours (7:00 pm.) sharp. The demo will be Brianne Corbett on making pendants.
This meeting was concluded at 2051 hours (8:51pm).
