Jim Shimwell reported that after many years of hard work, he is resigning his position as the liaison between the Western New York Woodturners and the Aspire Center for Learning. Jim did a wonderful job since 1992 in collecting toys, maintaining contacts, and distributing the gifts at the Aspire Christmas parties. Our sincere thanks goes to Mr. Shinwell for all of his generous efforts over the years.
Further, Jim advised that Gene Renzoni stepped forward, volunteered, and will assume the position and will work with Aspire for the future events. Good Luck Gene! I am sure you will have great support from our clubs. All members are to be recognized and congratulated for the great job and their and contributions over the years to both Aspire and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The 50/50 Club paid $25.00 and was awarded to Ward Beaton.
Ray Bissonette informed us that Dave Elberson, one of our honorary members, who owns Buffalo Forest Products 4949 Main Street Buffalo N.Y. 14226 716-839-0380 has a complete line of hardwoods at his location that are available to our members at a 10% discount. His business is at Main and Kensington next to Phillips Brothers.
Norm Kosmerl gave us a reminder that 2011 dues should be paid in full. If you are delinquent please bring them up to date soon as possible. We are working on the new 2011 membership list.
Jim Vasi advised us that Maryvale School management has requested that there should be no cars parked in the driveway adjacent to the woodshop. This area is now designated as a fire lane and can not be obstructed. Please park in the lined parking area at future meetings. Thank you for your cooperation.
Show and Tell participants included:
Richard Mialki, Brianne Corbett, Jim Schnellinger, Jim Rupracht with the Binh Poh items, Brian Effinger, Eugene Schlaak, Ray Bissonette, Henry Sitz, Jim Vasi, and Frank Stanko. Great Work! Thank you for your displayed items.
Our demo was done by David Day on the wood inlay process with gem stone and other miscellaneous materials. He did a great job and it was very informative. Thank you David.
We are always looking for member to do demonstrations. If you would like to do one for us please contact one of the Vice President committee members.
Our next meeting will be Thursday March 3, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Please remember the new time and parking restriction! Thank you.
