Old Business Items:

Gene Renzoni reported that the Aspire School will have a representative present at the February meeting.  Also, our members should be happy to know that this year we distributed toys to over 175 children.  Once again, thank all of you who supported this effort.

DVD’s Are available from Bob Ball at each meeting.  If you are interested please see him, for the details on the  loan program.  The list of  DVD’s is available on our Website.

Mr. Mialki is still working on the all day Demo by Patrick Marren  scheduled for October 4th, 2014 with a hands on at Barb’s Barn on the 5th.  Patrick is a retired teacher who handles the children’s program for the AAW.  More information and the cost for attendance will follow as the details are finalized. Presently there are 63 members from our local clubs who are interested.  A motion to pursue this event was made by Joe Wiesnet, and seconded by Brianne Corbett.   Bob Ball also brought out that our club has to start doing more outside events to promote additional membership.  In addition to that, Steve Imerese also asked for more support from our present members to help with these projects, and events.

New Business Items:

Larry Scaglione has graciously undertaken the position of Club Photographer, from Brian Effinger.  Thank you Larry… We are sure that you will do an outstanding job! And thank you Brian for your work in the past.  All is appreciated.

Richard asked for some members to become mentors, and make themselves accessible to help anyone requesting it.   Jim Vasi, Steve Imerese, Richard Mialki and Brianne Corbett came forward and will be available.  These members are very knowledgeable and skilled in the art of woodturning.

A request was made to the AAW and the Minwax Corporation by Richard for some funding for a new projector, some new DVD’s, and various finishing products respectively.  He will advise when he receives a response from these organizations.  Should be around April of this year.

A request was made by the undersigned to use the 3” X 5” inch index cards provided on the “Show and Tell” table.  Each member displaying an item should write their name and item(s) he or she is showing.  These cards will be collected at the end of the meeting and used by both myself and Larry Scaglione to help identify members and the photos for the Website.

Show and Tell participants included:

The show and tell portion was given by:  Brianne Corbett, Joe Wiesnet, Richard Mialki, Frank Becker, Brian Effinger, Mike Todd, Larry Scaglione, Dave Hall, and Richard Radel.   A nice variety of turnings were displayed.

Club Demonstration:

The demo this month was given by Brianne Corbett who made a earring holder using the D-Way Beader. Great demo Bree, thank you!

Next Meeting/Demo:

Our next meeting will be at the Maryvale High School Shop on Thursday, February 06, 2014  at 7:00 p.m.    The following demos are scheduled:

February  -  Brianne Corbett on Airbrushing.

Our March demo will be by  Joe Wiesnet on coring, and April will be threading wood by Brian Effinger.

We are always looking for members to do demonstrations or give us some ideas for our programs.  If you would like to do a demo for us, have any new ideas, or are just interested in learning something specific, mention it to our Vice President, Steve Imerese or send me an e-mail and I will forward it to him for handling.      The meeting was concluded at 2115 hours.

Respectfully submitted by,

J. A. Mussari
