50/50 split draw was won by Bob Gould  a guest from Lockport.

Steve Imerese stated that the “Audubon Library Display” will be in March 2008.

Jim Shimwell stated the Christmas Toy distribution to the “Aspire Kids” went very well and a big “THANK YOU” to all those who made toys and to those who helped distribute them.  Some of the Aspire Kids made “thank you” cards and those were passed around for those present to see.  Jim suggested we consider making items next year with a stuffed animal accompaniment, as the kids really liked those this year.

 

PLAN AHEAD.  Don Geiger, a master turner from Florida, will be at the PEMBROKE HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM, on Sunday April 20, 2008, 9 am till 4 pm. His demo program is “Mastering the side-ground bowl gouge” starting with sharpening, turning a natural edged bowl, jam and vacuum chucking, all performed on his 900 pound “Stubby lathe”.  Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from Rich Mialki, 716-694-5430, Mialkisr@roarrunner.com, or from Jim Vasi, 716-632-5381, Jmvasi@verizon.net, or from Jim Rupracht, 585-599-6400, JandLfeed@hotmail.com.

 

Dues are due for 2008, please pay John Paulin at the February meeting or send your check for $20 to him at 120 Heim Road, Williamsville, N.Y. 14221.   .  Norman Kosmerl, the new membership vice president, is keeping a waiting list of those who would like to join our club. The names of those who have not paid will be read at the February meeting. If you are not renewing your membership you will be replaced by the people from the waiting list. Please call Steve Imerese 688-6132 or Norm Kosmerl 689-8922 if you have any concerns.

 

 Show & Tell:  Thanks for sharing to, Rich Mialki, wood earrings, bracelet assist, x-mas ornaments, wood pens, Art Griebner – refrigerator magnets, Muriel Kummer –bowl, Debbie Hachey –candle stick holders, artist pencils, James Rupracht – thin sided tea light holders, bowl,  Ben Martinke – x-mas ornaments, Dan Mohr – ornaments & holders, Jim Hilburger – beer tap handles, Jake Debski – bowl, told of trick to use glue stick to check for flat spots, Steve Imerese – segmented bowl with corian in it.

Demo:  David Sherman turned a personal profile in wood. You have to see it to get the full idea. Very tricky, and very nice.  Thanks to David and his helpers.

           The demonstration will be done by Jim Rupracht. Jim will demonstrate his turning and carving of bowls.
