Milt Ehrenberg asks for volunteers to help with the Picnic, June 24th,
at the Noco Pavilion. Many members took responsibility for tasks during the
meeting however Milt could use you. Also
we need donations of prizes. If you
can help or obtain prizes, call Milt at 837-7989 or let him know how you can
help at the June meeting. All those planning on attending must pay at the June meeting. The cost is $11 for a family, $7 for a
couple or $4 for an individual. Milt also auctioned off some wood that
added $53 to the treasury.
Lyle Foell was proud to say there will be a three-some to be responsible for
the Erie County Fair Turning to benefit
“Make-a-Wish” this year. Bob Ball,
Lyle Foell and Jim Hilburger, thanks guy’s. The fair dates this year are Thursday, August 12th,
thru Sunday august 22nd.
Page two of this newsletter shows a schedule that will be at both the
June meeting and the picnic. Please sign
up for “morning’s, afternoon’s or evenings” so we can plan on your help. Don’t
forget to start making items that will sell for $3 to $5. We had a fantastic year in 2003 and hope
to raise more this year.
All were reminded of the Mark St. Ledger Demo/Workshop on May 22nd,
at the Charles Lindbergh school in Kenmore. Call Rich Malki 694-5430 for
tickets.
Show & Tell: Kurt Hertzog – salad
bowls, Muriel Kummer – wine bottle
corks & rings for wine glasses, Bill
Allan – oil lamps, Steve Imerese – lidded
box, salad bowl, Jim Hilburger –wedding goblets with rings, Thank
you all, for sharing!!!!!
Demo: Eugen Schlaak showed how he dyes’s burl
turnings. First you need to buy “fabric dye” from a fabric store, then mix a
small amount of the dye in small jars with water. Wet your turning with a brush
and water, then use a light color to paint the dampened turning. Wipe with a
paper towel. Use darker colors or
complimentary colors to create the desired effect and again wipe with a paper
towel to blend the colors. It was noted that Eugen did not paint the total
surface, but rather created an art colored object by selectively choosing where
he painted and what he only wiped with the towel. THANKS FOR A GREAT JOB, Eugen.
