Turners 2 August Meeting

Click on thumbnail for full size image

Our host, Jed Donahue, shows some of his bowl work

A four legged stool that Jed turned

One of Jed's thin walled, deep vessels ...

and a large Walnut vessel

Jed sectioned one of his turnings to show the wall thickness and pith location

Ron draws Ron Mialki's name as the show and tell Craft Supplies gift certificate winner

Jed gets the meetings demonstration underway

He has a piece of partially dry Cherry to work with

After some initial debarking, Jed manually peels that last bit off

The nights demo is deep hollowing with a variety of different tools

A spigot is turned on the bottom to hold the piece in a chuck

Once the piece is in the chuck, Jed bores a hole to his desired depth

A ring is locked in place to indicate the desired drilling depth

Once the hole is done, Jed shows how a ring tool can really remove wood

Another quick hollowing tool is the Exocet tool

This tool can also make short work of end grain hollowing
