Turners 2 June Meeting

Click on thumbnail for full size image

Rather than messing about turning off the ends, Bob cuts them off on the bandsaw

He then installs a cup drive into the chuck

The tailstock live center has had the spike removed and the sharp edges eased

Bob trues up the cup drive to insure that it runs true on the lathe

The sphere is located between the cup drive and the live center for additional turning

After rotating it between the centers a couple of times, the sphere is finished

While it is finished turned, Bob has a different setup for sanding

Bob sets up the lathe with a vacuum chuck

It is not necessary to use a vacuum chuck but it makes sanding much easier

The sphere is re-oriented several times to sand it completely

Bob gives it it's final sanding ...

and another Bocci ball has been created

It's been a long evening and it's time to tear down and clean up

The video is packed up and the tables are cleared as the group heads out

A look at some of Bob's miniature bird houses

A closer look at some of Bob's ornaments after Susan has done her decorating

Some burl and an interesting piece for the icicle

Another of Susan's paintings

A closer look at another
