President Kurt Hertzog gets the December meeting kicked off

After the business meeting, Kurt Hertzog starts off show and tell

Lance Kanaby shows his latest platter

With the holiday season, Ned Evans has been doing pens

Bill Vail shows a Walnut peppermill and salt shaker set

Continuing to refine the sanding stick, Lance Eggleston shows the latest revision

Ann Raby has done a 4 ring wedding goblet

The evenings demonstrator was Jake Debski

Everyone stayed for Jake's presentation on finishing

Jake covered surface preparation, techniques for application, and effectiveness of various commercial and "homebrew" finishes

After covering the safety aspects, Jake started by reviewing "families" of finishes

He had prefinished samples pieces with multiple finishes that could be compared

Of particular interest was the durability of various families of finishes

Finishing is usually the turners weakest skill

The sample sticks were also colored to show the effect of finishes on various colors

It was a great presentation on a very puzzling part of the hobby
