Pat DelMonte gets show and tell kicked off

Gary Jones has also been turning bowls

The latest in whistle test fixtures was shown by Jim Hilburger

John O'Neil shows his latest inlaid bowl work

John O'Neil was the evening's demonstrator

John was showing his technique for inlaying into turnings

He uses epoxy adhesive with various collected sandings in different colors and species

In order to maximize the original blank material, he uses a glue block

Good practice involves marking the #1 jaw for accurate remounting

A groove is cut for the inlay

The epoxy is mixed, blended with the desired color, and put into the groove

Once the epoxy has cured, it can be power sanded to flush

Care is taken to not sand the softer surrounding wood below the epoxy inlay

The final bowl ready for hand sanding to make everything perfect
