Turners 1 August 2005 Meeting

There was a nice turnout for the August meeting in spite of the very hot weather

While the members socialized, our guest presenter readied his equipment for the demonstration

With the onset of some rain, Jim puts up the top on the Vazzmobile

President Jim Vasi gets the meeting started at 7:30

Bill Perry gets the show and tell started after a short business meeting

We had a guest from the Silicon Valley club attend the meeting and he showed a turning done during his visit

Jim Vasi showed his turnings along with a homemade chuck for turning refrigerator magnets

Ken Schosek has been doing some segmented work

Some collaboration between Lance Kanaby and Claire Bluhm

Kurt Hertzog shows some of his latest efforts

After a short break, Jim Vasi announces our guest speaker

Dan Mosher is a professional tree surgeon with a local tree service, The Tree Doctor

Dan covers the terminology and basic operating parts of the chain saw

He demonstrates one of the approved methods for safely starting a saw

Dan shows the proper stance and balance to cut with safety in mind

He disassembles the saw to show the areas requiring cleaning and maintenance

Again, with safety in mind, Dan shows the chaps that he uses whenever he is using a chain saw

He points out some of the dos and don'ts that amateur sawyers should keep in mind

Most of the meeting attendees stayed for a very enlightening demonstration

Dan fields questions as he closes a very enjoyable and informative demo
