Turners 1 February 2008 Meeting

The club had visitors from the Aspire program

Steve Imerese started off the show and tell

Jim Vasi showed his latest turning

A lidded box from Norm Gibbon

Jim Rupracht shows his latest bud vase

Another lidded box was shown by Jake Debski

Jim Schnellinger shows his latest bowl turning

Marwin Feldman shows his lidded box

The demonstrator for the evening was Jim Rupracht

Jim's demo was on his technique for after turning carving

In addition to hand tools, Jim also uses power carvers

While not used during the demo in able to be heard, a protective helmet is a must

Another safety item is a cut resistant, protective smock

Jim marks out his plans in pencil allowing for changes in shape and position

After marking the leaf pattern, Jim shows how he power sands it into shape

For more aggressive stock removal, Jim uses a power carving setup

An example of a project requiring serious stock removal

Other items only get a bit of surface treatment
