Turners 1 February '05 Meeting

Dave Korn gets the show and tell started

It was bowl night as Jim Vasi show his latest bowls

Jim Schellinger shows a square turning and a hollow vessel

Continuing the bowl theme, Steve Imerese explains his segmented bowl

After showing his bowls, Eugen Schlaak unveils his root ball turned vessel

Rich Mialki has been busy making tools and miniatures

Frank Stanko shows and explains his box elder turnings and bleaching process

After the break, Kurt Hertzog starts the demonstration on work mounting techniques

Kurt explains the various drive centers from spur through safety through Stebb centers

Here he shows simple ways to quickly find the center of a piece

After explaining faceplates, glue blocks, and friction pads, Kurt shows various examples of them

Kurt draws a picture of the workings of a pin chuck and then demos it's use

After explaining the various screw mounting possibilities, Kurt drills and screw mounts a bowl blank

He moves on to homemade friction drives and vacuum chucking techniques

Kurt shows how to use various tailstock mounted items to help support work, including a tennis ball

He explains the use of stretch wrap to help support items when the tailstock has to be removed

Kurt finishes the demo with techniques of mounting and supporting deep hollowed turnings
